[ For a second, gazing into Byleth's uncomprehending face, Matt felt a flash of dread that he'd committed one of his classic blunders. Even the end of the world couldn't save him from descending into jargon and nerdiness, evidently.

Luckily, Byleth seemed to find something to hook on in what he'd said--and his response was fascinating. Matt supposed he was a mercenary, so this level of expertise made sense, but he found himself intensely grateful that someone who'd been ferried here knew what was what where conflict was concerned.
