Uh ... strictly speaking, neither. [ Matt's mouth quirks apologetically. ] "Demon" is kind of a catchall term, at least where I come from. It's broadly used to refer to noncorporeal, extraplanar beings who are understood to have motivations hostile to humans. Or I guess living beings in general.

But in practice, I think it encompasses a lot of beings who just--can't or won't make themselves understood to us. And they don't go out of their way to be helpful.
