GIVE US A BLURB ABOUT THEM!: Matt is a nerdy spellcaster with a heart of gold. Back when he was in high school, the form of magic he originally stumbled across was actually sex magic (scandal!!!!). So now he is effectively a cleric whose religion is kissing.
GENERAL PLANS: Honestly VERY FEW. I had previously had Matt on a pretty grim corruption arc, but this time around I'm leaning more towards seeing if he can hang onto his moral code and sense of self while navigating this cosmic war.
EVENT SPECIFIC PLANS: Before things go down, Matt will be wandering the islands trying to solicit responses on a community engagement survey he's been concocting. (Loser!) So he will be looking for survey buddies/impromptu bodyguards to help escort him around some of the places like Alenroux and Kowloon. This'd be backdated, likely taking place the week before things pop off.
I can't imagine Matt will have any clue that anything weird is going on, so I'm going to presume he'll be totally blindsided. Here's what I can see happening:
When you assassinate you make an ass out of ass, ass, and Nate. Matt could easily be in Springstar for Cyrus' assassination. I decided between when I originally posted this and the end of work that I think he's gonna Harmonize to Zenith for the power to protect people. He'll most likely to be helping citizens to flee, or helping them fortify a spot like the Community Center. I think he's also clever enough to hang out by one of the cornerstones and see who's trying to get out of dodge. If he runs into the wrong person and gets dissipated, I am a-okay with that.
Happiness is a warm gun. By the time GUN happens, Matt will at least be aware shit's going down! I'm playing this a little bit (more) by ear--he might be so mad at everybody on Team Zenith he's not even in Highstorm at all? (EVEN THOUGH HE'S GONNA HARMONIZE TO ZENITH.) Or he may have been convinced to stick around. He'd still likely be playing the same role of trying to assist civilians.
As mentioned, Matt's Unharmonized, and likes aspects of both Zenith and Meridian. However, AS I GET LESS INDECISIVE WHILE YOU WATCH, here's where I'm going right now:
Springstar attack. I'm leaning towards Matt harmonizing to Zenith during the Springstar attack in order to have the power to protect people, and out of a sense that the current Zenites have really hecked up and need better representation.
Influence peddling. That said, this is a spur of the moment decision and I imagine Matt won't be 100% sold. He's trying to be rational, but he's a deeply lonely person who overindexes on physical intimacy. So ... seduce him to your team?
CR WISHES: I personally am here for CR of all kinds. Enemies! Found family! Maybe lovers ...? Matt already thinks a bunch of you are super cute (sorry!!!). The apocalypse can't stop him from crushin'.
How do I become Matt's enemy? This is hard if you aren't Silco, but showing overt cruelty to anyone (however justified it may be with more context) is a great way to start.
How do I seduce Matt? Literally grab him.
Merc!! Okay okay sorry, but seriously, Matt is in a vulnerable spot right now and is very seduce-able. He can find something attractive about virtually everyone. He is also super easy to take to second locations.
Can my character dissipate Matt? Yes, we can find a way to do this.
Okay but do you also do normal CR? Yes, Matt desperately needs friends. He loves poetry, exploration of all kinds, and magic (obvs). In the immediate aftermaths of all the nonsense, he'll be looking for distractions and trying not to lose his mind. He'll be VERY VERY GRATEFUL to have his magical powers back and will be looking to enchant everything in sight.
