GIVE US A BLURB ABOUT THEM!: Former biggest sadist in the galaxy on their hero arc. Nebula was taken from her home world at a very young age and was raised as a living weapon - any physical, mental, or emotional failure was replaced by machinery. Doubly so when she constantly lost to her sister, Gamora. While all she wanted was a family this treatment as the lesser, put-upon child warped her into a bitter, demented thing who only sought to best her sister and receive some kind of acknowledgement. That acknowledgement came too late: their father killed her sister and wiped out half the universe. After that she became a Guardian of the Galaxy and helped to undo what her father did, spending years traveling to help out planets that needed it.
GENERAL PLANS: ‣ Nebula is turning out to be a very hardcore Meridian... which isn't entirely unexpected. She's very much a "throw everything into one net," kind of person and given her own experiences with worldly destruction and dark aesthetics she doesn't vibe with Zenith. While she is approaching the war with a "do what needs to be necessary," outlook she has also explicitly told Set that killing anyone is only a last resort for her. She's a guardian, they save people! This can probably be exploited, but also know that exploiting it may take her 5 steps back and have her mercilessly try to dissipate someone (so if you like that kind of thing?)
‣ I did claim the Otter Defense Squad side quest as a background thing for a while. I do kind of want to jump start some of it before things get heated! Part of it will just be Nebula getting involved because our assassin otters are tired of just seeing this statue! And if no one else is going to do something they will!! And it's wrong place/wrong time so she starts investigating why the hell this is happening... I would like her to talk to others about why (an opinion communion post?) and if anyone there heard Gamora I would definitely! Like that to come up! Since A) now she will 100% have her resolve and more Meri siding. But I kind of want it to have serious CR/info building moments while an openness for some (serious) assassination attempts on an otter that turns into a comedy of errors. So if you want CR Building/discovering reasons for actions, just a bit of silliness between things, and to be mad about our furry friend!!! I am happy to accomodate.
She will ultimately choose to find a way to cure him and be of the mind that if Gamora thought the same thing (assuming she learns about it) it's the right thing to do.
‣ As a character, when I say Nebula is on her hero arc she is specifically trying to overcome all of the things she was taught as a a child. She's still short and quick to anger, but is trying to be more considerate. Her morality is firmly "save as many people as possible," and that includes Zenites even if she does think most of them are cowards and monsters running from themselves (sorry). She is probably going to feel guilt for certain actions! Her faith in restoring worlds won't be wavered though.
EVENT SPECIFIC PLANS:: Honestly! I've been a little over-whelmed with the event stuff since during plotting. Probably partly because I just have had a lot happen and Nebula has been relatively new during it that I'm not sure where/how to get her involved! With that said.
‣ Springstar: She will act largely as a soldier. Her first priority will be ensuring the safety of civilians. In this regard she will not hold back (at least up to the point of dissipation; We can see how she feels about that if you want!). I do always find it a fun time to show off how gross and painful her healing is so... While she will care that Cyrus was murdered she will also not care (sorry). In politics the leader dies all the time and she sees him more as a civilian leader than a Shardbearer leader. Which is to say, that she prioritizes the goals of Meridian over him... and probably others. Who knows!
While I would like to see her help in trying to stop with others it's also not something she would immediately know about. Or maybe stop everything to go help with if there's a civilian in danger (especially since she has the mentality that Hayame is assigned/would do that). She would if asked/directed.
‣ Highstorm — She is helping with the more mechanical/scientific parts of the Big Gun! [Handwavey nonsense here]. She won't run from her own doing in it, even if she won't outright say it. Since in her opinion, Zenith has been attacking civilians indiscriminately for weeks and started it? There are no good guys in war? The only way for this to end is swift action. What are they supposed to do, look weak and do nothing about it?
That said depending on the severity of it and how many civilians are effected she'll feel guilt. Which could (possibly) be used against her.
I'm not entirely sure where she'd be during all of this; Her first priority would be to Springstar so unless she's either helping with last minute adjustments or doing some kind of delivery she may not in Highstorm? I'm willing to work things out for just about anything here.
CR WISHES: ‣ Have her learn to (legitimately) trust people that aren't the Guardians (or Avengers). Preferably without shattering that trust. She does believe trust is the most precious commodity and most easily taken but... ‣ So one thing that is a long-term hope for before end game is that... Nebula is in immense amounts of pain all the time (sorry to all Exalts who live with this). And she would never do anything about it/think to do so maybe working into someone suggesting she find a way to deal with it...? ‣ Do you need another tsundere in your life? Someone who is straight-forward and honest even if that honesty is just "you're an idiot," and nothing nice? ‣ Let her learn to be a little softer; Nebula always has to be strong and no so weakness. This would take effort and work but it'll be good pay off, probably. ‣ She caaan probably help build some kind of guns or cybernetics! Not as good as Rocket, but well enough. ‣ Gruff concern and looking out for other people?? She won't be nice about it all the time, but she does try to see fellow Meris as allies and will want to make sure they're taken care of. ‣ While I am down for and think she deserves to learn she can be loved - in any form at that - relationships would be slow burn/angsty. In this regard, as a general thing, i do like the idea of playing with Nebula being able to see people for who they are and (awkwardly) trying to tell them they're worthy. It's one of my favorite bits of HJs just her seeing Rocket as a person. It could show that she cares more than she does and may help the other character!
