NAME: Fane CANON: Divinity Original Sin 2 FACTION | ASPECT: Meridian Savant Give us a blurb about them: A scholar of the magical mysteries of the universe, Fane is a member of a race of beings known as Eternal, which, as their name would imply, are truly immortal. So when he disobeyed his king and was thrown into a tomb, all of his flesh rotted away leaving a skeleton who was very much not dead, thank you. Fane is rude and blunt and tends to be dismissive of other people and cultures because they’re not Eternal, but is improving in this regard as he gets to know people and worlds better. He’s just deeply traumatized and slavishly dedicated to returning to his world and saving his people at any cost, no matter how high… But he does internally war with this, since at his heart (so to speak), Fane is a good person with a kind heart, but he wraps it all up in an acerbic personality so that he doesn’t falter from his goals.
Event specific plans: So you can catch Fane on Bloodmoon Island complaining and being like “not this shit again” the entire time. He will go on a demon genocide run. They’re all dicks and should be purged in his humble opinion. So if you’d like that, Fane will encourage it and then not realize he’s advocating for the whole world to get zapped indirectly. Oops.
For other worlds, what catches my eye so far is—
another fantasy rpg??? Well, we can exploit that. Go adventuring with Fane in the House of Hope and give middle fingers to devils but mostly I want them to find the hidden room in a really stupid way. Also maybe the boudoir in the way and Judge. Fane might take notes.
faerun sure is popular huh anyways Fane will definitely be around Menzoberranzan but trying to stay incognito because he’ll quickly get the sense that this place is going to be even more hostile to him than even Rivellon. He’ll use disguise self to appear as a Drow (too bad he’ll pick a man), but he’ll eventually end up getting scammed by Jarlaxle. He’s also likely to defend the Braeryn from demons. A good skeleton.
Things you’re looking for from others: Let’s make some friends/deeper bonds/deeper enemies! Since I was focused on Quetz for a bit (rip, queen), Fane is still a little light on CR. So if anyone is willing to put up with a rude and pretentious skeleton, I open my arms to you. Magic is an easy in since it’s his passion, but he’ll be taking an interest in the various worlds they visit too. Tell him about your world!
Things your character can offer: Fane is someone that is deeply loyal to people once he considers them a friend, and it also doesn’t take as much as you’d expect. Sometimes it’s as simple as not being bothered by his appearance. Or h*lding h*nds in Communion, since touch is something deeply important to him because of its absence.
On the flipside, he’s also a grudge holding asshole so if you’d like negative CR that he’ll forever be mad about (in a funny way), I’m here for that too! Steal more of his bones. It’s funny.
