[ it's subtle, but it's what he needs. his hand tightens around hers in turn; reassurance that she's here, that he isn't alone, adrift. so he doesn't immediately let go, even when they stop in a relatively private alcove and he turns to face her. jyn speaks first, catching him by surprise, and he — allows himself a frustrated noise, too soft and too weary to be a growl, but not far distant. jyn knows his tells. he doesn't entirely drop the facade of a relaxed partygoer, could fool an onlooker with the casual arm he leans against a nearby pillar, but his jaw is tight and his eyes are hard. ]

They're all something. [ his voice, too, is low. ] Meridian believes our homes are still out there and can be saved. Zenith believes our homes are gone, and we can save what we want. Too many believe that either is telling the truth...or don't care, if they're lying. As far as I can tell, there's no way of knowing the truth about our galaxy. Or if there is, no one has found it.
