dawnlord: (pic#16049745)
BONDREWD, the novel. ([personal profile] dawnlord) wrote in [community profile] kenosooc 2023-03-26 03:11 pm (UTC)

[ Were Bondrewd anyone else, with machinations hidden behind his good intent, he might say what he does slyly, as if prodding at an injury in order to direct the mind to the places where it was failing. But, he is not. He is a man known to his world for terribly, nightmarish deeds and monstrous treatment of his fellow kin, but he is not conniving. In a way, he is upright, honest. A genteel, calm man who draws himself up, takes note of Silco's response and declares: ] How convenient.

[ If a toneless hum could sound happy, it would. But alas, Bondrewd's tonal affects are few and far between, he is oddly mechanical, his emotions are not so much filtered as they are surgically removed. ]

I would not mind if Meridian's goal becomes true, but what you say of Zenith seeking meaning in the loss is more in line with my thoughts. My world has gone and perhaps it always was meant for that end. The ambitions of those children and my own daughter have been swallowed, but that does not mean the end of their dreams. For I live on.

[ Perhaps that is what settles it, for him. That Meridian would naturally call to the Sovereign of Dawn is one matter, but the endless slog towards progress would always call him. Falling back on a dead world would be graceless, meaningless, when he can pour himself into Kenos's mold until such a time that another new world is born. And then, he can begin all over again. The unrelenting process of exploration, of the betterment of humanity. ]

The only thing, is that I hope Zenith does not attempt to create a picture-perfect world. Nothing would be more disappointing than an existence with its teeth removed.
