While the remaining bits of world might be small here, the cities are still sizable enough that you can go some time without seeing a familiar face, and even less so if you're talking familiar faces from prior to a whole bunch of world ending events.

Though admittedly his acquaintanceships with Flamebringer and Gavial here really do stretch the definition of familiar in that regard. He's never actually worked together with either of them. ]
