He also went back to staring at D shamelessly, his expression void of any and all emotion and his gaze both intense yet distant, like he was clearly focused on D, but he also wasn't the object of his thoughts.
In fact, no object was in his thoughts. Byleth was going back to 'he is very nice to look at so this is the perfect place to focus my eyes on as elevator music plays cheerfully in this empty void called my skull', slowly munching away at his apple - and after a very prolonged pause, it seemed like this was just... what he was planning to do for the rest of his time here.
