Some part of Set does expect rebuke, rejection. He expects this beautiful man to desire his erasure from reality, to condemn him for his evil — even if he seeks amends, serving under and standing peerless for others. He can hear the echoing mockery of his words, so clearly in this moment, as he claimed Anubis as his child and was told that there was no question about his divine parentage. Gods knew whom they were truly descended from. Anubis was the child of Nephthys and Osiris, a fact as unchanging as that Set was the child of Nut and Geb.
The man before him is so beautiful. ( Sorry, D. ) So very much the pale-eyed twin of his own dark-eyed son, and full of a gentleness that makes Set want to cry. He is the manifestation, it seems, of a father's dream for their own child. ]
I do not care much for humans, nor others. But, I do admire their convictions and have begun to acknowledge their ability to persist. If there was one race of creature that could survive the idea of the end, it would be humanity.
[ He bites his lip, and looks away. A petulant expression coupled by the knitting of his brow. ]
I do not trust the leading opinions of Meridian, nor Zenith. I look for the truth, but I will not show anyone who gets in the way of returning to my world any mercy. If you wish to protect your humans, you had best be ready to fight whole of heart for them, and — if you have any questions or need anything, I am here for such things.
