[ He watches her take in the rest of the party before them, and she really does look... lost, is the word he would settle on. Like this isn't the place she's supposed to be, but she's here anyway (and don't a number of people start out that way?). But she's a lot younger, and keeping to herself, and he kinda wants to take her hand or something.

But Amos refrains, his brows quirking up a little instead at her statement — that she needs to get whatever it is she's working on done before she can really focus on anything else. He wasn't aware that anyone so newly arrived would have more pressing business than actually finding out what was going on, securing a place to stay (eating the food laid out for everyone?), but... he doesn't know her. And on some level, he comprehends that being thrust into a new world might actually be traumatic for people, even if they are at a party.

So his gaze softens. He tilts his head a little, still keeping his eyes on hers — not the book in her hands. ]

Alright. Sure. [ He gives her a little nod; his tone is sincere. ] Hey, whenever it is you're ready... I can wait with you until you're ready to ask questions, if you want. Or if you want me to fuck off so you can get your work done, I can do that too — but offer's still there. Whenever you're ready, I'm here. Your call.
