[Ah yes, this man definitely seems like he’d be friends with Byleth, bless his heart. Not that Liem should judge based on a first meeting, but his earnest manner strikes a familiar chord, and he finds himself automatically trusting Shez just a little bit more because of it.]
Oh, it’s no trouble at all. We were all in your position at one time. I know finding one’s bearings here can be difficult.
[He’d certainly had his fair share of questions as a new arrival; he still has plenty now, only at this point he has a better idea of which questions actually have readily available answers and which don’t.]
The situation with Alenroux is slightly more complicated than that. Alenroux is nominally a neutral territory, but it is actually controlled entirely by the Zenith faction. Some months ago, during a period of food shortage, Meridian moved a military force there as “insurance,” and to address the ongoing plague of dangerous monsters that had been keeping people from remaining on the island at night.
Since then, the population of monsters has been greatly reduced, and an agreement has been brokered to protect the island with a reduced garrison of mixed Meridian and Zenith forces. However, the presence of military on the island at all still puts some people ill at ease, and I would guess that some Highstorm residents in particular begrudge Meridian’s involvement.
